Tap Story

tic-tic-tic...

no, it's not the heart beat of a clock...

it's a leaking tap...

Ages ago to till recent times I came across lots of those annoyoing leaking taps. It's really tough to make a leaking tap shut-up. As water is precious, neither I cannot leave the tap leaking nor can stop it. It always costs either a watcher or a new tap to get rid of the problem. But at recent times, I came across few wonderful taps where it seems there is no scope for a leakage. Marvelous thinking and Wonderful engineering.

During my visit to a star hotel I have had to use the restroom. There was the basin and there was the tap, but with out a knob. On little observation I found two dots. One in red and the other in green. Immediately traffic signals popped up in my mind and started pressing the green dot in an attempt to turn on the tap. But it hasn't. I kept on pressing red & green & red & so on for few seconds. An other guy came beside me and just lifted the tap up to turn it on. I tought of hiding my face under the towel because of my stupidity :)

While my visit to a business firm I once again have had to use the restroom. This time I thanked God, 'cause it was a normal tap with a knob and was the one which we see everywhere. So happily turned the knob. One round, two rounds... but not even a single drop of water. I condemned that firm for not having proper water suply in restrooms. And then as I started searching for tissue paper I observed a pedal at the base of the wash basin. I gently pressed that pedal and the water started flowing from the tap. This time I cursed the firm for its technology. A wonderful idea for a place like restroom to avoid infections and contaminations.

Some time later, I have had been to a construction which was built on international standards. Same restroom and tap scene. But this time I really got pissed off. The tap haven't had any knob or pedal, it can't be pused up and was fixed. It looked just like a simple piece of pipe. And in frustration I started pulling off the tap, but suddenly the water started flowing. It has got infrared technology. If you bring your hands near to the tap's tip, it will turn on. No pedal, no knob... a kind of wireless type... too much technology really bothers me...

From there on I fear using restrooms in hi-fi places.
