Bed Rest Adventures
Due to food poisoning, i was at bed rest the last two days. But how and when it started, i slipped-off in to the world of Britannica Encyclopedia. "Britannica Learning Library", a book worth to be in one's shelf. Every page, each and every sentence and in fact every word is a valuable information about the universe, earth, birds, places, plants, people, arts, myths and the list goes on. I came across lot of facts which fascinated and made me think about them.
Have you ever known that there is a place on the Earth which has only one day and one night through out the year??? And do you know the length of the day or night at that place??? And also do you know the reason for this peculiarity??? The place is Antarctica. It has only one day and one night through out the year. Day is from 22nd March to 21st September and Night is from 21st September to 22nd March. Antarctica is on the south pole of the Earth, hence this peculiar behaviour.
And do you know why Sun rises in the East??? This is because Earth rotates from west to east. But Venus, Uranus & Pluto rotate from east to west. On these planets Sun rises in the West...
And do you know what Black Holes are??? Before a star dies, it consumes lot of energy from its surroundings and emitts huge amount of light. And after consuming lot of energy it explodes with huge emission of light. What remains after this is a Black Hole. And this black hole has huge gravitational force which attracts surrounding particles INCLUDING LIGHT in to it. What remains is a big BLACK HOLE.
The rings of Saturn are of ice...
The great wall of china (measuring 6,400 kms and totally man-made) can be seen from atmosphere...
Pluto has irregular orbit and it is not always the farthest planet in the solar system. For every 248 years it comes before Neptune for 20 years and this 20 years Neptune will become the farthest planet. This happened from 1979 to 1999.
It would be a never ending invasion about the truths surrounding us if we go on like this...
